My Top 10 List of Favorite Books for Teachers

1.  The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs:  Have you ever met a child who didn't feel like he/she had been blamed for something he/she didn't do?  Children completely identify with the wolf.

2.  Little House on the Prairie:  I read books all the time now.  But, when I was young I was a reluctant reader.  It wasn't until my 3rd grade teacher read us the Little House on the Prairie series that I got excited about reading.

3.  The Hallo-wiener:  Oscar, the wiener dog, is so cute!  Plus, I love the message the story tells.

4.  Personal Space Camp:  This is the "go to" book to read to your class when you have children who don't understand personal space.

5.  Readicide:  This should be on every teachers' summer reading list.  Kelly makes many interesting points about what schools are doing wrong, plus activities that you can easily implement.

6.  The Book Whisperer:  This is another book all teachers should read because we've all had those students in our class who are turned off of reading.  With all of the strategies in this book, you are sure to find a way to reach your reluctant readers.

7.  Fancy Nancy series:  I love this little girl!  She has so much personality.  Plus, these books will expand your students' vocabulary.

8.  Chrysanthemum:  Who can't identify with poor, little Chrysanthemum?  Hasn't everyone at some point hated your name?  I love how she eventually sees value in it.

9. Eric Carle books:  All of his books are so great, it's not possible for me to pick one.

10.Tomie dePaola books:  I love incorporating his books with my holiday lessons.  I read Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato and Patrick near St. Patrick's Day, The Popcorn Book and The First Thanksgiving in November, the adventures of Strega Nona and her famous pasta pot in December when we study holidays around the world, The Legend of the Bluebonnet and The Legend of the Paintbrush in March for Texas Independence Day which is also my birthday, and the Legend of the Poinsettia in December when we "travel" to Mexico for our study of holidays around the world.

On March 28, I began a series called "3 Cheers".
Please read that post before you read the next part of this post.

Our next member, Tessa @ Tales Outside the Classroom, was honored  by being named one of the Weekly top 100 sellers of TPT.  Tessa has always been interested in the curriculum side of teaching, so when she discovered TPT, she found her true calling.  She loves to create games because they keep students involved and engaged with what they are learning.  When she's not writing curriculum, Tessa spends most of her personal time helping a local non-profit organization.  She truly believes our world would be a better place if we all gave back to our community.  She has 3 best sellers:  Math Warm-ups,  Math Warm-ups for 2nd grade, and Nouns unit.

Jenn @ Best Practice 4 Teaching, is the leader of our group.  It was her, Pining to Pin idea, that brought us all together.  When you get to know Jennifer on a personal level, you will see that she has a knack for bringing people together and giving them a sense of home and community.  She currently lives with her husband, 2 children, and 2 godchildren.  Before that she and her husband were house parents at a group home for children of incarcerated parents and was also a foster parent.  She has the philosophy that there's always room for one more which is why her house is always full of fun and laughter.  She has the same philosophy with the Pining to Pin facebook group.  There is always room for one more in our Virtual Reality faulty.  If you'd like to join our faculty, email Jennifer and she'll let you join the fun.  With 17 years of teaching experience, Jenn has been able to fine-tune her teaching style to an art. She works hard to integrate links between the body and mind while teaching across the curriculum.  Her lessons on TPT were developed with this in mind.  Her current best seller is a 15 Center Task Card for Author Study.
